Our Story:
Roots N Wings cultural and eco/adventure travel group was conceptualized by it’s founders Tasha Willis and Melissa Alvarez while vacationing in Honduras, June 2007.
Tasha, a bi-racial woman (African American & Caucasion) from Chicago, currently living in Long Beach, California and Melissa, a Puerto Rican woman from Chicago, currently living in Atlanta, Georgia, noticed they were among the few U.S. Americans of underrepresented backgrounds participating in eco/adventure sports. This observation sparked a discussion around this issue and our decision to round up some of our friends back home to come together to experience the world outside the U.S.A. to challenge ourselves to step outside our comfort zones.
Roots N Wings: “The Soulful Sojourners” is a group of professionals, men and women of multicultural backgrounds coming together to enjoy life, learn about the language, culture, history and current issues of the countries they’re visiting, all while both relaxing and engaging in eco/adventure sports.
Melissa and Tasha are planning a trip for August 2008 and are eager to share it with others who are open to trying new things, willing to challenge themselves (emotionally and physically), committed to making travel a deserved pleasure & priority in their life, and folks who are down for having a good time!
"See the world from different angles."
